Plot - Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger
Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger is the 47th installment in Toei Company’s Super Sentai Series, premiering on March 5, 2023. The series features a theme of arthropods and royalty and will join Kamen Rider Geats in the Super Hero Time line-up.
The show’s production was announced on September 21, 2022, and the cast, story, and crew were revealed at a press conference on February 14, 2023.
The plot follows five kings and their guardian deity, King-Ohger, defending Earth against the Earth Empire Bugnarak, fulfilling an ancient prophecy. It also includes a Coming of Age Story for a young man who will achieve kingship.
Characters in Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger
King-Ohgers The King-Ohgers are the monarchs of the five kingdoms. Each one is armed with the Ohger Calibur (オージャカリバー, Ōja Karibā) sword, which is the symbol of their authority as monarchs that they also use to transform, and the Kings Weapon (キングズウエポン, Kinguzu Uepon) shield, which can either change into different forms according to the user’s fighting style or combine with the Ohger Calibur to access its double-bladed Naginata Mode (薙刀モード, Naginata Mōdo). They are also equipped with the Kings Hotline (キングズホットライン, Kinguzu Hottorain), a smartphone that is stored on their belts via the Ohger Holder (オージャホルダー, Ōja Horudā) attachment.
Gira (ギラ): An orphan and self-proclaimed king of Shugoddam (シュゴッダム, Shugoddamu), an industrious kingdom and the strongest of the five kingdoms where the Shugods were created. Gira transforms into the red-colored Kuwagata Ohger (クワガタオージャー, Kuwagata Ōjā), uses his Kings Weapon in Sword Mode (剣モード, Ken Mōdo), and rides the King Speeder (キングスピーダー, Kingu Supīdā) hoverbike.
Yanma Gust (ヤンマ・ガスト, Yanma Gasuto): The king of the technological kingdom of N’kosopa (ンコソパ) who was born in the slums and raised to the position of king by his own efforts and intellect. Yanma transforms into the blue-colored Tombo Ohger (トンボオージャー, Tonbo Ōjā) and uses his Kings Weapon in Gun Mode (銃モード, Jū Mōdo).
Himeno Ran (ヒメノ・ラン): The queen of Ishabana (イシャバーナ, Ishabāna), a kingdom known for its advanced arts and medicine, who is also a doctor. Himeno transforms into the yellow-colored Kamakiri Ohger (カマキリオージャー, Kamakiri Ōjā) and uses her Kings Weapon in Sickle Mode (鎌モード, Kama Mōdo).
Rita Kaniska (リタ・カニスカ, Rita Kanisuka): The monarch of the snowy kingdom of Gokkan (ゴッカン), where they are also the Chief of Justice, whose true face and gender are a mystery. Rita transforms into the violet-colored Papillon Ohger (パピヨンオージャー, Papiyon Ōjā) and uses their Kings Weapon in Bow Mode (弓モード, Yumi Mōdo).
Kaguragi Dybowski (カグラギ・ディボウスキ, Kaguragi Dibōsuki): The king of the agricultural kingdom of Toufu (トウフ, Tōfu). Kaguragi transforms into the black-colored Hachi Ohger (ハチオージャー, Hachi Ōjā) and uses his Kings Weapon in Claw Mode (爪モード, Tsume Mōdo).
Shugods The Shugods (シュゴッド, Shugoddo) are giant insectoid, mechanical deities who protect the five kingdoms.
